Fire Resistance and Development of Ceramic Fibers

Time:2019/5/4 17:03:30

In recent years, the application prospects of ceramic fibers in high-temperature firing kilns are expanding day by day. Various products made of ceramic fibers are widely used in all kinds of kilns with the characteristics of good thermal insulation effect, simple use, especially small heat storage, and show high energy-saving efficiency.

Because of the low thermal conductivity, low density and light weight of fibers, lighter steel frame supporting structures are used in the design and construction of kilns, which makes the development of ceramic kilns enter the era of lightweight kilns. Fiber has small heat storage, adapts to fast heating and cooling firing mode. Fibers are flexible and can be processed into products with grooves or openings. They have good resistance to mechanical vibration and impact, and good chemical stability. These advantages promote the development of new kilns, and affect the development of ceramic technology and industry. At present, ceramic fibre products include felt, blanket, block, bulk fibre, fibre paper and vacuum moulding products. The working range is generally 8711 427 C. Under special circumstances, it can be used at high temperature above the limit temperature for a short time.

(2) Masonry methods and precautions: refractory fiber felt, suitable for kiln lining can greatly improve energy-saving efficiency. Organic adhesives are commonly used to make fibre rolls into tubular or sheet fabrics. After the kiln inner wall is built with high temperature lightweight refractory bricks, ceramic fiber felt can be bonded to the inner lining. After firing, the fiber felt or board forms a certain rigidity and has satisfactory recovery ability. When cooled, it can rebound to tighten the joint.

There are usually two ways to build fibers: one is to apply the blanket layer by layer, then rivet it with bolts. Generally, the temperature-resistant metal bolts are used below 1222 C, and the ceramic riveting parts are used above 1223 C. One end of the relief surface is filled with loose fibers and hot-resistant cement. Ceramic riveted parts can also prevent the deterioration of fibers caused by carbon deposition. The second method is to use prefabricated components, i.e. prefabricated parts stacked with felt blankets or prefabricated parts folded into accordion-like parts with a width of 305mm. Compared with the two, the latter has higher energy-saving efficiency and higher cost because it is the same material from the furnace shell to the hot surface. When the temperature rises, the joints formed by the fabrication of fiber preforms need to be inlaid with flexible fibers. The prefabricated assemblies are easy to install, fast and easy to maintain. Only the damaged parts need to be replaced.

As far as thermal efficiency is concerned, layer-by-layer coating is obviously superior to prefabricated assembly. Because the fiber direction of the former is perpendicular to the heat flow, and the fiber direction of the stacked prefabricated assembly is parallel to the heat flow, the difference of heat conduction between the two components is about 2040%. For example, the prefabricated assembly with accordion-like folding is between the two, and its fiber direction is parallel and vertical to the heat flow.
